Hamsterwheel Tell me if it’s just me, but do you ever find yourself thinking of a million things at once that you need to do?  A typical "stream of consciousness" thought for me may look like this:

"Ooh, where is my notepad.  I just thought of a great idea for Jojo for Christmas.  And while Im at it Im going to make a list of everyone I need to buy for this year…  Oh here’s my list; now where is my pen?  I need to make a list too of things I need to buy at Walmart– like more pens.  What was it I was thinking of just yesterday that I just HAD to get there because we were out of?  Oh!  yes, conditioner.  I should write that down too.

And toilet paper.  No, wait; I will get that at Sam’s because it’s cheaper.  I suppose I should start a Sam’s list too.   Hand soap, TP… ooo and they had some really neat pots for putting by the front door.  I wonder if they still have those.  I need to get something to put there before we have JD’s birthday party.   He was just saying he wanted to have a Narnia theme.  I wonder where I could get the plates, etc for that?  Not at Sam’s.   I have got to get myself together for that– I need to make a guest list and start planning a menu.

When can we do it?  Jojo has soccer games every weekend so we will have to work around that.   Hmm let’s see… Ugh,  I will never get it in before the actual date.  It’s just as well.  I really need to paint the hall bathroom first, which means I have to strip the wallpaper.  Hideous stuff.

Oh and dont I remember the last time I painted… I was pregnant with Bee and fell off that ladder and had to go to the hospital 2 days later because I was bleeding.  Hmm I wonder if that had anything to do with the clot under her placenta?  Oo and speaking of which I never got the pathology report from that.  I wonder what it said?  I guess I need to call the doctor to find out.  I need to find that number.  Oh wait, I was supposed to be doing something…."

And such it is.  Mr. Grits says it’s like watching a hamster running on a wheel.  Going 100 miles an hour but getting no where fast!

(If he wasnt right, I’d be inclined to be mad!)

Stop the presses!

Ladies and gentlemen!  Another sure sign of the end of the world.  Signs and wonders!  Amazing and miraculous developments in the life of this blogger!  What happened this morning will go down in the annals of history as an event as rare as a kissing crocodile!  Ah, you say?  What is this miraculous event?

I went walking this morning!

Yes, completely unbidden I tied on my tennis shoes at 6:30 AM and walked ONCE around my block!  (Hey there are a lot of hills in my neighborhood!)  I think my lips were blue as I approached my front door.

Children waiting for schoolbuses stared in disbelief.  Grown men with coffee mugs and stood gape-jawed at the sight.   Dogs  barked in protest.

But alas– I pray and hope if the Lord wills, to do it again tomorrow.

A moment of silence for the ways of the past.  There’s a new Kim comin’ to town!  😀  (Let’s hope she’s skinny and not so saggy!)

Copy_of_dscn16551 This is my latest creation!  Sugie LOVES giraffes, so I found this fabric and made her a dress and knickers.  You really cant see them very well.  If her face was on this picture you would see the GIANT smile she had trying it on for the first time!  And can you believe it only cost me $17 to make this dress, including the monogramming, piping, lining, and buttons?   The shop where I had it monogrammed had outfits not as cute on sale for up to $60!!!

Ok, working out this "public blog thing…"

I have decided I hate people referring to me as "Mrs. Grits" so even though I continue to be married to "Mr. Grits" you are going to have to call me Kim.  Ive decided.  Especially since yall know me anyhow…

But of course!

So, Im sewing and Sugie is sitting next to me eating animal crackers.

Sugie: "Look, mom!  A turtle!"

Me: "Sure ’nuff!  What’s his name?"

Sugie: "A B C."

Me:  "Oh, how do you spell that?"

Sugie: "Q R S."

Ahhh, it all makes sense now!

30 days of…

dieting.  I hope you didnt think I was going to say "purpose!"  Haha

No, I am on a mission.  Im 10 1/2 weeks out from my LAST baby unless the Lord decides to laugh at me (which He surely could do) and let one of Mr. Grits’s soldiers go AWOL.  I want my body back.  I really dont have that far to go as far as weight.  No, sadly my biggest obstacle is gravity.  After 7 pregnancies my stomach looks like biscuit dough, and this southern girl knows her biscuit dough.  So for the 30 days of September Im dieting and exercising.  I know, that seems futile that in the span of my life I would only do it for 30 days but in the past if I low carb it for 30 days I lose my weight and dont have to do it again.  (Dont tell me Im lucky…  This presbyterian girl doesnt believe in luck.  It’s… providence.  Or good genes.)  And I figure, while Im at it I might as well try to defy gravity too by exercising.  But only for 30 days.  As Sister said once, "I do NOT like to sweat."

And I will admit, vanity is involved.  I really despise looking like this.  And I always feel better when Im able to… wear clothes.  No, I really cant go and buy a wardrobe for winter when the only way I will get rid of it is to do what Im doing in September.  It will start to get colder in October (Lord willing, for sure!  It’s been over 100 almost every day here!) Why procrastinate?

I can do anything for 30 days… right??  (Said with fear and trepidation…)
